Microsoft Surface RT Review

This is the Microsoft Surface Review.

Portability:

It's a very portable machine. Only a tad bit thicker than the latest iPad models (not including the iPad Mini), it's a very portable machine. The Touch Cover only adds a little bit more thickness but otherwise, fine. You can easily take it on the go. In fact, I'll be taking it to my upcoming New Zealand trip!

Durability:

Durable enough to resist being thrown around by the force of gravity in your bag, the VaporMg casing protects the unit from drops and falls (not including the ultra-damaging screen face-down drop). The Gorilla Glass 2 protects the display from cracking (same on Galaxy S III) and the Touch Cover offers the final stage of protection. The 3-step protection procedure gets into action every time it falls/drops.

Performance:

The RT model's architecture may be small, but it's a beast to productivity. The animations are crystal clear, thanks to the ClearType display and Windows RT. To ensure the motherboard is intact, the 3-step protection gets into action to protect it. (mentioned in "Durability" above this), so when you get to your destination, your device will retain the same performance when you started. It's such a safety feature :).

Connectivity:

The front-facing camera is not what you think. It's a "door" to the social networking world. It connects you to Skype, Facebook and other chat services that I didn't mention. The microphone is located at the back, at the right of the camera. It's kinda hard to access it (it's only meant for taking videos). There is no Ethernet/RJ-45 port and only 1 USB port (please use a USB hub).

Final Impression:

A great machine with the most effort into it. It had 3 years of testing (in secret) and the Touch Cover was made out of pressure sensors and plastic. They just renamed the original tabletop Surface the PixelSense. Anyway, good effort on making this machine, Microsoft.
